Why Fundraising is Important to Us
At DBC Club for Young People, we are incredibly proud of our history. Next year, we will celebrate our 75th birthday! 75 years of providing opportunities for children and young people in our local community.
For 75 years, generations of young people have walked through our doors to make friends, learn new skills, take part in activities and create memories. Keeping that going takes a huge amount of support, and as a charity, fundraising is an incredibly important part of what we do.
Why Do We Need to Fundraise?
As a charity, we rely on a combination of fundraising, donations, grants and support from our community to help us run the club.
Every week, there are costs involved in providing a safe and welcoming environment for our members. Fundraising helps us meet those costs and, importantly, allows us to provide more opportunities for the young people who attend.
The money we raise can help contribute towards things such as:
Activities, games and equipment
Sports equipment and resources
Arts and crafts materials
Trips and activity days
Special events and celebrations
Prizes and activities for our members
Maintaining and improving our club facilities
Training and developing our volunteers
The general running costs of the club
Behind every pound raised is an opportunity for a young person.
It could help provide the equipment for a new activity, contribute towards a trip, replace a well-loved piece of sports equipment or help us continue providing a place where young people can come together each week.
How Do We Fundraise?
We love finding fun and creative ways to raise money for the club, and throughout the year we organise a variety of fundraising activities and events.
These have included events such as our Easter Fun and Games, where we raised over £500 through games, races, raffles, competitions and activities for the whole family.
We also hold our annual John Arnold and Paula Holden Memorial Golf Day at Lea Marston Golf Club, bringing supporters together for a day of golf, competitions, prizes and raffles, while raising money for the club.
Our Open Day is another opportunity to raise funds while bringing our community together, with games, stalls, raffles, food, entertainment and activities for families to enjoy.
Our Amazon Wishlist
Not all fundraising has to involve donating money.
We have an Amazon Wishlist where supporters can purchase items that we need for the club directly. From activity resources and games to equipment and supplies, every item purchased helps us provide better activities and experiences for our members.
Our wishlist also gives supporters the opportunity to see exactly how they’re contributing to the club.
EasyFundraising
We also use EasyFundraising, which allows our supporters to raise money for DBC Club for Young People while shopping online.
When supporters shop with participating retailers through EasyFundraising, the retailer makes a small donation to our club at no extra cost to the shopper.
It’s a simple way to support us through everyday shopping, and those small contributions can quickly add up and make a real difference.
We also benefit from donations, sponsorships, fundraising organised by our supporters and the generosity of local businesses and members of our community.
Bringing People Together
One of the things we love most about fundraising is that it isn’t just about raising money.
Our fundraising events bring our community together.
Families can spend time together, our volunteers can get involved, local businesses can support a great cause, and our young people can play an active role in helping their own club.
We also look for opportunities to involve our members in fundraising, giving them the chance to understand where money comes from, how events are organised and how their efforts can make a difference.
This can help develop skills such as teamwork, organisation, communication, responsibility and confidence.
Every Contribution Makes a Difference
You don’t have to make a huge donation to make a difference.
Buying a raffle ticket, taking part in an event, donating a prize, purchasing something from our Amazon Wishlist, shopping through EasyFundraising, sponsoring an activity, volunteering your time or simply sharing our fundraising efforts can all help us continue our work.
When lots of people contribute in small ways, those contributions can add up to something incredibly meaningful.
Looking Towards 75 Years
Next year marks an incredible milestone for DBC Club for Young People: 75 years of supporting children and young people.
Reaching 75 years is something we are incredibly proud of, but we’re also looking towards the next 75 years.
We want future generations of children to have the same opportunities to make friends, try new activities, develop their skills and feel part of their community.
Fundraising will play an important part in making that possible.

Help Us Keep Our Club Going
Every time you support one of our fundraising activities, you’re helping us invest in the future of local young people.
You’re helping us provide activities.
You’re helping us create opportunities.
You’re helping us create memories.
And most importantly, you’re helping us keep our doors open for the next generation.
Thank you to every person, family, volunteer, business and organisation who has supported DBC Club for Young People over the years.
As we approach our 75th anniversary, we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped us get here, and we’re excited about what the future holds.
